The range of property development is a testament to the city’s fast growing economy. In fact, Dubai has rivaled most manmade achievements in modern times, surpassing the level of quality and innovativeness of most major cities. Among these achievements is the Burj Al Arab Hotel, which is the only hotel who received a six-star rating; another are the soon to be completed Palm islands, which are immense manmade residential islands (visible from outer space) where all houses will have their own personal shoreline; and there is also the Burj Dubai. Burj Dubai is still yet to open, but has already surpassed the tallest building in the world: the Taipei 101.
Upon completion, Burj Dubai will be the tallest structure ever made by man, surpassing even the Warsaw Radio Mast, which collapsed in 1991. Among other notable achievements of Dubai’s property development are its technological cities. These types of cities are a sort of mini cities constructed inside Dubai itself. One of the most notable of these cities within a city is the Cultural Village, launched in May 2006. The Cultural Village was built to add diversity in Dubai, truly making the commercial and financial capital of United Arab Emirates a global city. The Cultural Village focuses on, obviously, culture, but it also aims to integrate culture into everyday life inside the village.
The Cultural Village was developed by Dubai Properties, the same property developer that is building the Business Bay. The Business Bay will become the commercial and financial hub of Dubai upon completion, and the Cultural Village will become the cultural hub. Dubai’s economy has an average growth of five to nine percent yearly, and with the overwhelming influx of revenues, Dubai has been utilizing the money to recreate and reinvent the city. In doing so, Dubai has also pushed the possibilities of architectural design and the boundaries of infrastructure. In fact, Dubai has the fastest growing infrastructure in the world, rivaling most major cities in the world. Yet despite all these, most people do not think there is a high level of development in the Middle East when it comes to property and real estate. There are preconceived notions that Middle Eastern cities build structures that have the same bland design. This stereotypical view of Middle East, most commonly associated with films and other types of media, is completely flawed. Dubai, most especially, displays highly innovative property development not seen in any part of the world. The property development in this city is highly sophisticated and recognized internationally.
