Jumeirah Lake Towers
The Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), found near the Jumeirah Islands and across from the Dubai Marina, covers an area of around two hundred hectares. A waterfront property composed of four man-made lakes, will be constructed with a view of the different lakes with surrounding landscapes that are designed to blend in with the natural environment. Dubai Metals and Commodities Center (DMCC), which will be in the center, will be surrounded by the eighty-seven towers in clusters.
The towers are called Lake Plaza, Al Seef, Al Shera, Al Waleed Paradise, Armada, Concorde Tower, Dubai Arch, Dubai Gate, Falcon Tower, Flamingo, Fortune Executive, Fortune Tower, Global Lake, Goldcrest Views, Green Lakes Towers, HDS Tower, Indigo, Laguna Tower, Lake City, Lake Shore Tower, Lake Terrace, Lake View, Madina Tower, Manchester Tower, Ocean Heights, Palladium, Saba Tower, Tamweel Tower, The Icon, V, Vista de Lago, Vue du Lac and Wind Tower. The first tower to be finished in the Jumeirah Lake Towers is called the Saba Tower, which was fully constructed in 2006.
The four man-made lakes in the Jumeirah Lake Towers, called Allure, Elucio, Almas West and Almas East, are filled with sea water piped from the Arabian Gulf through the underground pipes. The projected time for all the four man-made lakes to be filled completely is by September 2008. The Jumeirah Lake Towers holds the world record for the world’s biggest chiller. The world’s biggest chiller, made by the Stella Group, cost more than 340 AED million to build. The Stella Group employed their “Plug and Chill” technology to create this chiller composed of three cooling plants. Using district cooling, this chiller will provide more than one hundred forty thousand tons of refrigeration once completed. The definition for district cooling is that it is “the centralised production of chilled water that is then distributed via a network of underground pipes to multiple users”.
