Soon to open: The Biggest Shopping Mall in the World Q3, July 2008

In Dubai, there are many new and exciting prospects for investment. Although business has been slowing elsewhere in other Western countries, investors have been interested in Dubai. What can be found among the many new wonders that can be found in Dubai? It’s the world’s biggest shopping mall. Jim Badour, the CEO of Emaar Malls Group, stated that ‘The Dubai Mall is located in the heart of the Downtown Burj Dubai master planned community where some of the world’s most iconic structures are being developed including the Burj Dubai.
The Dubai Mall will revolutionise the modern shopping experience by introducing several new and innovative leisure and entertainment concepts to the region. We are creating a new lifestyle destination that will energise the retail, tourism and consumer audiences.”

The Dubai Mall is composed of one thousand and two hundred retail units, along with two department stores and more than one hundred and twenty restaurants. The first department store opening in the Dubai Mall is the Prestigious Galleries Lafayette, which is one of the top retailers in France. The Dubai Mall also features the Burj Dubai observatory tower. On the other hand, the Fashion Avenue section of the Dubai Mall will be featuring the leading haute couture lines from around the globe. Among the seventy signature lines available, such stores like Burberry, Versace, Hugo Boss, Roberto Cavalli, Galliano, Loewe, Givenchy, Hermes, Tom Ford, Cerruti, Escada, Missoni, Ermenegildo Zegna and Badgley Mischka can be found. Another section of the mall is called the Gold Souk, in which more than two hundred and twenty of Dubai’s gold and jewelry retailers can be found.

The Dubai Mall is also connected to a five star hotel which is composed of four hundred and fifty apartments. This can house the tourists and visitors who will be coming from all over the world.

Yousif Al Ali, the General Manager of the Dubai Mall stated that “We are on-schedule for the completion of The Dubai Mall for August 28 with finishing works progressing on the entire site. To provide optimum support for our retailers, The Dubai Department of Economic Development has opened up an office at the mall, and we have placed The Dubai Mall Retail Delivery and Asset Management teams onsite. Emaar Malls Group is committed to deliver the August 28 opening. We ask for the continued partnership and commitment of our retailers to ensure we meet this date.”
