How did the Palm Jebel Ali come about? Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, realized that the solution to Dubai’s problem of a beach shortage would be the creation of its own islands. While drawing a sketch of a date palm tree, he noticed that the multiple fronds of the date palm tree would increase Dubai’s shoreline significantly. The Palm Trilogy was then created. Dubai used state of the art technology to create these islands, using technology from when Dubai made the biggest man made port in the world.
Starting from there, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the chairman of Nakheel used his past experience to create the man made islands called the Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, and the Palm Deira. Nakheel is a Dubai developer most famous for building The World, which is also composed of several man made islands. The Palm Jebel Ali is a part of a bigger project called The Palm Trilogy which was conceptualized in 2002. The Palm Trilogy, or the Palms, was made in Dubai and proclaimed as the new Eighth Wonder of the World. The Palms can also be called The Palm Islands and The Palms Dubai.
The Palms is composed of three man made islands called the Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, and the Palm Deira, which are all made to look like a date palm tree in different sizes. As of now, most of the properties in the Palm Jebel Ali have been sold. In terms of location, the Palm Jebel Ali is in the leftmost area in which the Palms can be found and is near The World. The Palm Jebel Ali is to the left of the Palm Jumeirah. The Palm Jebel Ali can actually be found inside a bigger Dubai structure called the Dubai Waterfront. The Palm Jebel Ali will be fully integrated into a bigger structure called the Dubai Waterfront by 2020. The Palm Jebel Ali is composed of a water breaker shaped in the form of a crescent, with seventeen frond-shaped islands, and a base trunk. The Palm Jebel Ali looks like a medium sized version of its counterpart, the Palm Deira when viewed from above. The Palm Jebel Ali is the site for all different kinds of entertainment as compared to the Pal Jumeirah which is meant to be a destination for leisure and relaxation and the Palm Deira which is meant to be
